The people of South Sudan must unite beyond tribal lines and kick foreign corporations out!

Statement of the Communist Party of Romania regarding the current crisis in South Sudan.

It is with great sadness and concern that we are watching the unfolding political crisis in South Sudan, a crisis that led to ethnic strife pitting mainly the Dinka and Nuer tribes/ethnic groups. Thousands of innocent civilians have died so far in the strife and there’s no end in sight for them. Thousands more have been displaced from their homes.

Tribalism has long been the scourge of Africa ever since it gained its formal independence from the European colonial powers. Time and again we have seen the horrors of tribalism in Nigeria (The Biafran War of 1967-1970), in Burundi (the Burundi Genocide of 1973 in which up to 200 000 Hutus were killed by Tutsis), in Rwanda (the Rwandan Genocide of 1994 in which 800 000 Tutsis were killed by Hutus) and most of all in the Democratic Republic of Congo in which more than 5 million people, mostly innocent civilians, lost their lives in ethnic strife and strife-related famine since 1998. And now we are seeing its horrors once again, this time in South Sudan.

South Sudan is the world’s youngest country, having gained its independence from Sudan in 2011. It’s also one of the poorest countries in the world. And the reason for that is not the Black Man’s alleged „inability to rule himself”. The reason for that is COLONIALIST PLUNDER. Colonialism never actually ended. Colonialism did not end when African countries gained their nominal independence after World War 2. Colonialism merely changed its form. Today it’s no longer political colonialism, today it is mainly economic colonialism i.e. foreign corporations from both the East and West plundering Africa’s resources. Foreign corporations steal Africa’s natural resources and mercilessly exploit its workforce. And they are also making use of tribalism to increase their profits in Africa. We all know the story of Dan Geldor, an Israeli businessman who made billions in profit from the Congolese Civil War in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In other words, it is not tribalism that is the main culprit for Africa’s seemingly endless internal strife but rather Neo-Colonialism. Tribalism is but a byproduct of imperialist domination therefore in order to eliminate tribalism the peoples of Africa need first to do away with Neo-Colonialism.

All over Africa the African peoples must unite REGARDLESS of ethnicity, they must unite REGARDLESS of religion (for communalism has also pitted Africans versus Africans in the benefit of foreign corporations, see Nigeria in the past decade), they must unite in order to THROW FOREIGN CORPORATIONS OUT! The French imperialist troops which are ravaging Mali and The Centrafrican Republic must also be thrown out. In South Sudan the broad masses of both the Dinka and the Nuer tribes must unite across tribal lines and expel the foreign corporations from the country’s oil industry as well as from other industries. Oil is South Sudan’s greatest blessing, along with its wonderful biodiversity, and the peoples of South Sudan must never allow foreign corporations to rob them of these riches and turn them into sources of sorrow instead of happines.

Dinka and Nuer peoples, as well as Arabs, Shilluk, Nuba, Christians, Muslims and Animists, unite against the foreign corporations stealing South Sudan’s oil! South Sudan must be run from Juba and not from overseas offices!

Colonialismul doar si-a schimbat forma.

Dinka si nuer, precum si arabi, shilluk, nuba, crestini, animisti si musulmani, uniti-va impotriva companiilor straine care fura petrolul tari voastre!
